Tamil Nadu Government would double the number of e-Seva centres, aimed at providing multiple services to people under one roof, IT Minister Mukkur N Subramanian informed the Assembly today.

Currently there are about 6,461 e-Seva centres operating in the village panchayats and an addition of 6,063 of it would be made in the state, he said.

"By this initiative, all the 12,524 village panchayats would have e-Seva Centres that will provide government services", he said.

The idea under the Arasu e-Seva centres is to develop a platform that would enable the state government, private and other organisations to integrate their services at a single point for the benefit of the people.

Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa last month inaugurated 101 e-Seva centres in 345 locations across the State. From these centres a total of 4.65 lakh transactions amounting to Rs 3 crore were made.

A policy note tabled in the Assembly today said the government has proposed to set up a "State Resident Data Hub" at a cost of Rs 30.25 crore similar to Centre's AADHAAR project.

The idea to set up this hub was to collect public data which would utilise all the government departments. It would help the Government in better effective service delivery, greater accountability and more efficient monitoring of schemes, it said.
