Tamil Nadu government today said it would file a defamation case against PMK Chief Dr S Ramadoss for his alleged remarks on procurement of pulses by the state.

"Procurement of pulses for distribution through Public Distribution System is being done trasparently under the Tamil Nadu Transparency in Tenders Act," Food Minister R Kamaraj said in an official release here.

Condemning Ramadoss for his alleged remarks related to procurement of pulses, he said it was done with "ulterior political motives" to "defame the government."

"A defamation case will be filed against him," he said.

The minister's assertion also follows a comment by DMK chief Karunanidhi that the government should clarify its stand on this issue.
