Tamil Nadu government today said it would embark on a propaganda blitz and counselling sessions to prevent suicidal tendency among school-going children.
Social Welfare Minister B Valarmathi told the Assembly that 100 students would be chosen in every district and counselled three months before and after the examinations. Parents would also be part of the programme.
Similarly, advertisement campaign would also be held. The aim of the programme is to prevent suicidal tendencies among (sections of) school-going students, she said.

The announcement comes in the backdrop of suicides by some students after the declaration of results for Class X and XII board examinations.
She also announced installation of CCTV cameras in 26 government child care institutions and six care centres (for women and children) and 21 government homes. Together, the estimated cost would be Rs 82.40 lakh.
