TN trounce Maharashtra in Savio Cup Basketball Meet

The points tally put up by the TN men, who scored their second win in three games, is the highest-ever by any team in the tournament's history.

It was TN's second win from 3 games, having beaten Indian Railways and lost to Sportspower, USA, earlier. Their match against strong title contenders ONGC tomorrow will be crucial.

In the women's section, Maharashtra and defending champions Southern Railway recorded their second wins in the league stage.

While Maharashtra came up with another clinical performance to down South Central Railway 73-55 for their second consecutive win, Southern Railway inflicted another defeat on South Central Railway, winning 74-44 for their second win from three games.

 

Maharashtra play Chhattisgarh tomorrow in their last league encounter and only a loss with a deficit in excess of 20 points can prevent their advance into the final.

Scores: Women: Maharashtra 73 (Manisha Dange 24, Renjesha Mathew 13) bt South Central Rly 55 (Anusha Anto 22, Jilna Jose 14) HT 37-25.

Southern Railway 74 (Anitha P 17, Geethu Anna Jose 16) bt South Central Rly 44 (Jilna J 12, Manda M 12) HT 37-23.

Men: Tamil Nadu 110 (Rikin Pethani 17, C V Dinesh 15,m M A Raghuram 12) bt Maharashtra 79 (Siddhant Shinde 27, Raj Kalbhor 11) HT 52-35.
