A 24-year-old engineering graduate from the city is stuck in Thailand after being duped by a job agent with the youth's family today seeking the government's help to ensure his return.

According to a memorandum submitted by the youth's father to the District Collector on grievances day, the youth, named Thangam, approached one Ganesan in Thailand who promised to get him a job with a salary of Rs 70,000 per month if he was paid Rs 2 lakh for his help in the matter.

Believing him, Thangam duly left on July 10 for Thailand, where he was received by Ganesan. However, after taking the Rs 2 lakh, Ganesan left the airport on the pretext of bringing the appointment order and, thereafter, did not return.

Stranded at the airport, Thangam called his father and told him of his plight.

Thangam's father said the youth has no money to return home as he pleaded for the government's help to secure his return.
