TNAU scientist bags three awards

A professor from the Mettupalayam-based Forest College and Research Institute has brought laurels to the town by winning three medals for his work in wildlife conservation and management.

Dr.K.Baranidharan, Assistant Professor (Forestry), Department of Forest Products and Utilization of Forest College and Research Institute, Mettupalayam, affiliated to Tamil Nadu Agricultural University, had undergone a course on wildlife management conducted by Wildlife Institute of India (WII), Dehradun from November 1 to January 30 in Dehradun.

The course meant for in-service forest department field executives of South Asian Countries saw the participation of 24 scientists from India, Myanmar and Malaysia, a college release said today.
 

Baranidharan was awarded, gold medal for wildlife conservation, silver for best all round wildlifer and another silver for wildlife management, for his performance both in the field and practical classes during the course period.

WII Director, Dr V P Mathur presented the awards at a function held at Dehradun recently, the release added.
