TNCC chief,3 KTV officials asked to appear in court next month

A local court today asked TNCC chief E V K S Elangovan and three Kalaignar TV channel officials to appear before it on August 21 in a criminal defamation case filed by the city public prosecutor.

Taking the case on file, Principal Sessions Court Judge issued summons for their personal appearance.

The City Public Prosecutor M L Jegan had filed the case against Elangovan for allegedly making some derogatory remarks against the State Highways Minister Edappadi Palanisamy. The three officials of the DMK-backed TV channel were also summoned for broadcasting the same.

The court also issued summons to Nakkheeran Editor Gopal and Associate Editor Kamaraj for their personal appearance on August 27 in another criminal defamation case filed by the city public prosecutor for allegedly publishing derogatory statements about the health of Chief Minister Jayalalithaa.
