TNPCC President S Thirunavukkarasar today hit out at BJP State President Tamilisai Soundarajan for her remarks that those blaming the Centre on Cauvery issue should ask top Congress leaders to make efforts to resolve it.
It was an attempt to divert the attention of the people of the state from the raging issue, he told reporters here.
Reacting to a message about Rahul Gandhi's stand on Cauvery issue doing rounds on Whatsapp, Thirunavukkarasar said neither did the Congress president speak in favour of Karnataka nor against Tamil Nadu over the Cauvery issue and blamed the social media for spreading such news.
To a query on Karnataka's opposition to the formation of Cauvery Management Board, he said there was no justification for blaming that state at this stage.
He also expressed confidence that all party workers will cooperate by hoisting black flags atop their houses and wear black clothes in protest against Prime Minister Narendra Modi's scheduled visit to Chennai on April 12, in line with the decision taken by all parties.
On holding IPL matches in Chennai, the senior Congress leader said those who wish to express their solidarity with the farmers and those protesting over Cauvery issue can boycott it.
