To help students make
a good choice of career, the administration in Odisha's Koraput district has decided to create awareness on competitive examinations being conducted by the state, Centre and service selection boards from July.
"Students earn their degrees but are not able to get jobs because they do not know about competitive examinations. They remain confused and spoil their career for failing to choose the right vocation," said Koraput district Collector Jaya Kumar V.

A special cell will be opened at the district library, Koraput, where students will be counselled and made aware of various competitive examinations, including civil services, banking and defence. Besides, adequate number of books and magazines required for the competitive examinations will be kept in the library for the benefit of job aspirants.
A database of all students coming to the counselling centre will be prepared and based on their preferences they will be alerted about the date of the competitive examination in which they want to appear, the collector said.
"We plan to equip the library with over 5,000 books related to various competitive examinations. Anyone, including students, can enrol themselves in the library, he added.
Also, the administration is all set to conduct special awareness camps at Jeypore, Koraput, Kotpad and Sunabeda at regular intervals to make college students conscious of career options and its related examinations.
"We plan to conduct one camp a month where experts, scientists and administrative officers will speak on their related fields and make students aware of various career options and how to prepare for it," the collector said.
The administration's initiative has generated enthusiasm among academicians and students.
