Toddler becomes 35th victim of swine flu in Indore

A one-year-old boy died of swine flu in a hospital in the city today, perhaps becoming the youngest victim of the H1N1 virus infection in Madhya Pradesh.

With this, the number of deaths due to swine flu in the city so far this year has risen to 35.

"A one-year old boy died during treatment at government-run Maharaja Yashwantrao Hospital," said Dr Asha Pandit, district in-charge, Integrated Disease Surveillance Programme (IDSP).

The deceased toddler, who hailed from Betma area near here, was admitted to MY hospital six days back, she said.

Dr Pandit said the total of 35 persons--21 from Indore district and 14 from other districts---have died of swine flu at different city hospitals this year.
 

She said 116 patients have been tested positive for H1N1 virus at different hospitals in the city since January 1.
