A two-and-a-half year old girl was allegedly abducted and raped by a youth living in her neighbourhood in Haryana's Yamunanagar district, a senior police official said today.

"The two-and-a-half year old girl had come out of her house when there was a power shutdown in the area. While she was playing with other children, the 25-year-old accused Jagannath abducted her and took her to his house where he raped her," Deputy Superintendent of Police, Yamunanagar, Usha, said over phone.

Usha said the parents of the girl, who are labourers, found her crying on the street.

The incident took place last evening, the DSP added.

The police officer said the accused, who lives in a rented house in the area, has been arrested and a case under relevant provisions of the law including Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act (POCSO) is registered against him.
