ToI scribe passes away

Rakhi Chakraborty, a journalist working for the Times of India, died today after battling with cancer for over a year.

Chakraborty, who was an Assistant Editor with the daily's Kolkata edition, was diagnosed with lung cancer in February, 2016. Her end came at a private cancer hospital in the city, her family said.

Chakraborty, who was 45, also covered beats like crime and politics. She left behind her parents and two sisters.

She had previously worked for the paper in Delhi for five years as well as in another Times Group paper, Mumbai Mirror, besides having smaller stints in other papers and channels, her colleagues in ToI said.
 

During her Delhi stint, she had covered Maoist insurgency and internal security.
