A toll free number will soon be started for bus passengers, allowing them to register their complaints free of cost, Haryana government today said.

"The facility of a toll free number will soon be started for the convenience of the passengers travelling by buses so that they can register their complaint free of cost," said Minister of state for Transport Karan Dev Kamboj said.

Kamboj stated this after interacting with the passengers while travelling in a Haryana Roadways bus from Pipli to Ambala.

The idea of a toll free number was given by a passenger in the bus in Kamboj's presence, after the minister invited suggestions from passengers for possible solution to their problems while travelling in the buses, according to an official release.

Kamboj said the aim of his bus travel was to understand the problems faced by the commuters and to solve them.

One of the passengers suggested a toll free number which is being considered and soon efforts would be made to implement it, he said.

The passengers also complained about drivers deliberately stopping buses at dhabas where passengers have to compulsorily pay "high prices" for food which is not even hygienic.

The minister was also informed that bus drivers and conductors did not wear uniforms and as a result of which passengers could not identify them.
