A local court has granted bail to former member of state planning commission Mohammad Iqbal who was arrested on June 17 in connection with a firing incident at a toll plaza here.

District Judge Jaisheel Pathak yesterday granted bail to Iqbal after seeing the CCTV footage "in which it became evident that though he was present in the vehicle at the time of the incident, he had on role in firing or beating," Iqbal's counsel Raja Singh said.

Iqbal and his four associates had allegedly clashed with the employees of Ahmednagar toll plaza on Faizabad highway on June 8, 2015 and also opened fire

Subsequent investigation had revealed that their Range Rover, which was seized by the police after the incident, did not have proper documents.

Investigation had revealed that SUV was registered in Haryana in the name of "whatapp son of '0' (zero)".
