The death toll following Tuesday's Bodo militant attack in Kokrajhar and Sonitpur districts of Assam has reportedly gone up to 65.

An indefinite curfew has been imposed in five areas of Sonitpur district after the deadly attack by the banned outfit National Democratic Front of Bodoland (NDFB).

Meanwhile, Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi said the Centre and the state will act firmly together.

"Government of India will never surrender, both Centre and State will act firmly together," said Gogoi.

According to reports, the Assam Home Department has instructed all district administrations to remain on alert.

The world heritage site, Manas National Park, has also been closed for three days in a bid to intensify operation against the militants.

President Pranab Mukherjee, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh have condemned the attack.

Rajnath Singh and Minister of State for Home Affairs Kiren Rijiju would be visiting the state later today to take stock of the situation.

Rijiju had earlier today said that 50 extra companies of central forces would be mobilized in the state in the aftermath of the attack.

In yet another incident, three civilians were reportedly killed by the miscreants in Chirang district today.
