Making her debut in playback singing alongwith celebrated vocalist Ustad Rashid Khan, Bengali film actress Arpita Chatterjee affirms she loves to render classical-based vocals.

"Arpita, whom I know since her childhood days as a gifted vocalist,, took time for agreeing to my proposal to be part of a film as a playback singer," the film E Ki Labanyo's music director Pt Debojyoti Bose told PTI at the recording.

"Probably this being the first time a popular actor will be part of a feature film where she is not facing the camera and her lines will work as situationer," the film's director Anindyo said.

"I had sought to follow Tonyda's (as Pt Debojyoti Bose is called) advice especially at 'mukhras' and my song helps the plot unfold. I love singing," the Ritupaqrno Ghosh-directed Utsab actress, who is also the wife of superstar Prosenjit Chatterjee, said.

"Arpita has rendered the Bengalee version of the title,, and Ustadji the classical one in Hindi. And since the film deals with a musician's turbulent life, songs act as thread of the story," the well-known sarodist said.

"Bumba (Prosenjit) has also no qualms if she comes o fulltime singing, but Arpita is reticent," Debojyoti said. Bengalee rockstar and the lead singer of Fossils Rupam Islam has also lent his voice to the musical having versatile actor Debshankar Halder in the lead role.
