Tom Cruise has revealed he was "scared" to hang on the side of a plane 5,000 feet in the air for his upcoming film "Mission: Impossible Rogue Nation".

"I was scared!," Cruise told the audience at CinemaCon in Las Vegas, while playing footage of that harrowing scene.

"As always, I will do everything I can to entertain an audience and put as many people into your theaters... I'm an aerobatic pilot and I've always wanted to do that," he added.

Cruise, 52, said being a part of the franchise's fifth installment, which hits theaters July 31, is a "dream come true".

"This movie has a tremendous amount of action of course, but also intrigue and mission twists," he said.

He had filmed it in eight times to perform the death-defying stunt.

"He's actually out there doing these things. He really did it.
