Hollywood star Tom Hanks hopes to direct again in future but feels he doesn't have a natural aptitude for directing.

The 57-year-old Oscar-winning actor has previously directed two movies - 1996's 'That Thing You Do!' and 2011's 'Larry Crowne' - and he said he would love to get behind the camera to helm another feature film, reported Contactmusic.

"I am still absolutely fascinated by the directorial process. There are things in my head. I am flabbergasted by the process, however," Hanks said.

"As an actor, everything I get to do is instinctive and completely personal. I don't even have to talk to anybody about what's going on in my head.

"As a director, it's the complete opposite - you to have to tell everybody what you're thinking. I think that my storytelling ability is natural when I'm an actor; when I'm a director, it's an unnatural craft, an unnatural talent I have not fully developed," he added.

The 'Forrest Gump' star hopes to be more prepared for his next directorial effort and says he needs to be more confident.

"I have to learn and unfortunately, people who are rattled with ADD (attention deficit disorder), as I am ... The only way to learn is by getting your ass kicked," Hanks said.
