"The Sixth Sense" actress Toni Collette and actor Jason Patric have joined Jennifer Aniston in upcoming Iraq War drama "The Yellow Birds".

Jack Huston, Tye Sheridan and Alden Ehrenreich are also starring in the adaptation of the Kevin Powers novel, said The Hollywood Reporter.

The movie will be directed by "Blue Caprice" helmer Alexandre Moors. David Lowery has written the script.

"Birds" tells of two young soldiers (Sheridan and Ehrenreich) who bond in boot camp. They make a promise to keep one another safe but when one dies, the other struggles to keep the balance between the truth that he vowed not to speak, and the peace that a mourning mother seeks.

Huston is their commander while Aniston, 46, is one of the soldier's mother.

43-year-old Collette, currently starring in the holiday horror-comedy "Krampus", plays the mother of the soldier who returns.

Patric, 49, who will be seen in the family adventure movie "Lost & Found", plays a captain.
