Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav today said his government has taken "historical" decisions for empowering women and ensuring their safety which have started to "show results".
"The government has taken historical decisions for ensuring women safety and their empowerment... Started schemes for their education, economic independence and health concerns and they are now showing results but a lot still remains to be done," Yadav said at a programme here.
He listed out various schemes launched by his government for women's welfare, including 'Women Power line', a 24-hour helpline - 1090 that aims to assist women in distress.

Highlighting the importance given to women's welfare in socialist ideology, Yadav said, he is following the footsteps of his father and Samajwadi Party supremo Mulayam Singh Yadav who had launched several schemes for their empowerment when he was chief minister.
