Top amateurs to tee off at DGC for Delhi NCR Cup

The country's top amateurs, including reigning All India Amateur champion Pratap Atwal, will tee off at the hallowed Delhi Golf Club when the ninth edition of Delhi NCR Cup begins here tomorrow.

Besides Pratap, Order of Merit leader Udayan Mane, No.2 Trishul Chinappa and No.4 Simarjeet Singh are amongst the top-5 who will be seen in action along with the cream of the country's talent.

A total of 56 golfer out of top 60 on the IGU Order of Merit will be vying for honours and adding the sheen will be India's leading amateur Gowri Monga, who has been given a special entry.
 

The intertnational competition comes from the Sri Lankan team of P Sisira Kumar and Mohd. Zaffer Sikkander and the Nepalese team consisting of Bishnu Sharma and Bikash Bogati are just back from playing the Bangladesh Open Amateur and would be looking to corner international glory.

Joining them is the Spanish team of Ricardo Oliveira Nuno Brito e Cunha, Germans Christoff Korth and Oliver Leework and Pierre Rolland and Ramos Joa from Portugal will be in fray.

Meanwhile in the members event held today, the team of Ravi Upadhaya, Parth Sharma, Kamal Goel and Ashok Kumar emerged as the champions.

Apart from the laurels, the winners stand to gain crucial world ranking points on the World Amateur Golf Rankings and a chance to win a fully expense-paid trip to the World Amateur Golf Championship at an international venue.

The Cup is majorly broken into two categories: The Delhi NCR Cup where players from across the country will vie for honours and the Delhi State Championship meant only for the participants from Delhi. Competition for both will be held concurrently.
