Top eight cos add Rs 47,491 cr in market cap

TCS emerges as the biggest gainer

The combined market valuation of eight of the top-10 most valued Indian firms advanced Rs 47,491.18 crore last week, with TCS emerging as the biggest gainer.

Barring SBI and HDFC Bank, the rest of the eight companies made gains in their market capitalisation (m-cap) for the week ended Friday (May 8).

The m-cap of TCS surged Rs 12,545.65 crore to Rs 4,95,695.29 crore.

HUL's valuation zoomed Rs 9,757.57 crore to Rs 1,93,543.57 crore and that of ONGC gained Rs 9,453.82 crore to Rs 2,70,054.05 crore.

The market cap of RIL climbed Rs 8,753.65 crore to Rs 2,87,980.29 crore and ITC added Rs 4,649 crore to Rs 2,62,949.12 crore.
 

Infosys' valuation moved up by Rs 1,791.61 crore to Rs 2,24,870.88 crore while that of CIL jumped Rs 347.4 crore to Rs 2,29,631.43 crore.

Similarly, the market cap of Sun Pharma rose Rs 192.48 crore to Rs 2,26,217.84 crore.

In contrast, SBI's m-cap plunged Rs 6,242.13 crore to Rs 1,98,083.32 crore and HDFC Bank shed Rs 1,496.47 crore to Rs 2,46,446.05 crore.

In the ranking of top 10 firms, TCS topped the list followed by RIL, ONGC, ITC, HDFC Bank, CIL, Sun Pharma, Infosys, SBI and HUL.

On a weekly basis, the BSE benchmark Sensex has gained 94.08 points to end at 27,105.39.
