Top Indian and foreigners golfers for PGTI year ending c'ship

The Big Three of Indian golf -- Jeev Milkha Singh, Arjun Atwal and Jyoti Randhawa -- will be seen in action at the McLeod Russel Tour, PGTI's year-ending Championship, at the RCGC from December 22-25.

The Rs 1.5 crore prize money event will see the top-50 players from the Rolex Ranking 2016 (PGTI Order of Merit) along with 10 sponsor invites.

Jeev, Arjun, former champion SSP Chawrasia, Gaganjeet Bhullar, Shiv Kapur, Randhawa, Rahil Gangjee are the sponsor invites.

There will also be foreign flavour in two-time Asian Tour winner Pariya Junhasavasdikul and Suradit Yongcharoenchai of Thailand, Mithun Perera of Sri Lanka, a multiple winner on the PGTI Shintaro Kobayashi of Japan.
 

The competition of the Rolex Player of the Year title is likely to be closest this year as everyone in the top-10 has a realistic chance with Rs 5 lakh separating the top five with two events left for the season.

"By far it's the best field, the added presence of some of the biggest international stars of Indian golf as well as some renowned foreign players will spice up the contest even more," Uttam Singh Mundy, director of PGTI said.

The tournament will be a 72-hole stroke-play championship and there will be no cut applied after 36 holes and there will be a two-day Pro-Am event preceding the event.

Defending champion S Chikkarangappa is fifth in the Rolex Ranking led by Shamim Khan.
