Top nine companies add over Rs 68k cr in market valuation

TCS emerges as biggest gainer with its m-cap advancing Rs 18,610.7 cr to Rs 4,97,168.53 cr

Cumulative market capitalisation of nine of the top 10 companies surged by Rs 68,023 crore last week, with TCS stealing the show.

Coal India Ltd (CIL) was the only one to suffer loss in m-cap, while TCS, RIL, HDFC Bank, Infosys, ITC, Sun Pharma, HUL, ONGC and HDFC saw gains.

TCS m-cap advanced Rs 18,610.7 crore, to Rs 4,97,168.53 crore, emerging as the biggest gainer among the top 10 firms.

HUL's valuation soared Rs 9,845.92 crore to reach Rs 1,93,780.56 crore and that of RIL by Rs 8,943.43 crore - to Rs 3,45,245.77 crore.

The market cap of ITC zoomed Rs 7,725.32 crore to reach Rs 2,66,322.32 crore and ONGC added Rs 5,946.07 crore, to Rs 1,82,231.94 crore.
 

HDFC Bank's m-cap rose by Rs 5,675.78 crore to Rs 2,73,360.17 crore and HDFC (Rs 5,395.15 crore to Rs 1,75,867.80 crore).

Sun Pharma's valuation climbed Rs 4,801.31 crore to Rs 2,00,174.67 crore and that of Infosys went up by Rs 1,079.56 crore to Rs 2,69,213.40 crore.

In contrast, the m-cap of CIL fell by Rs 2,242.31 crore to Rs 1,74,931.71 crore.

The ranking of top-10 firms stood as: TCS, RIL, HDFC Bank, Infosys, ITC, Sun Pharma, HUL, ONGC, HDFC and CIL.

On a weekly basis, the BSE benchmark Sensex rose by 952.91 points or 3.86% to end at 25,626.75.
