Progress of the long pending airport expansion here was today reviewed by Additional Chief Secretary Mohan Pyare, who met people and visited the area where it is to come up.
Trade and business have been demanding expansion of the airport following increase in export of goods from here and Tirupur, and also passenger traffic to various countries.
However, there has been delays in land acquisition after some land owners sought more compensation, considering the prevailing rate in the area

Pyare, also the commissioner,land administration, visited Uppilipalayam, Kalapatti, Singanallur and Irugur areas to elicit opinions and suggestions from the public, official sources said.
they said officials later heard grievances of landowners and received petitions from them, seeking increased compensation and to provide them alternate land.
District Collector T N Hariharan, who was also present, urged the public to extend their cooperation in view of the exponential growth of business and passengers.
Besides Hariharan,Joint Commissioner land Administration, Vijayarani and Airport Director R Mahalingam were among those who participated in the meeting.
