Top retiring defence officials undertake management course

A number of high-ranking defence officials, who are on the verge of retirement, have undertaken a two-week management course to enable them to be inducted into the corporate world once they leave the service.

The Symbiosis Institute of Management Studies (SIMS) at Pune in collaboration with the Directorate General Resettlement (DGR), Army, conducted a two-week course on "Independent Directors".

The course was attended by about 15-18 officers of Major General and Lt General rank.

It was designed with due care and thought to give the participants a holistic knowledge and perspective on the role, charter and duties of an Independent Director as well as on the various facets of company laws, acts, finances and governance issues, a statement released by the Army said.
 

The participants were taken through the syllabus by an experienced faculty that included guest talk by top corporates giving them insights into the practical aspects, it said.
