Some of the creme-de-la-creme of distance running are in the men's field which includes 14 athletes who have run the Half Marathon just below 61:00 on either track or road and pose a strong challenge to the existing course record held by Ethiopian Atsedu Tsegay who stopped the clock at 59.12 minutes last year.
Leading the Men Elite Athletes category will be the 21-year-old Abraham Cheroben from Kenya who recorded one of the fastest Half Marathon times in history, clocking 58:58 at the Valencia Half Marathon.
Cheroben will face stiff competition from fellow country man and last year's Delhi Half marathon runner up Kamworor and Stephen Kibet. Kamworor is the 2014 World Half Marathon champion while Kibet has an impressive personal best of 58:54.
In the women field, rivalry between last year's winner Florence Kiplagat and Kenyan ace runner Gladys Cherono will add an extra edge to the event.
