Top Solapur civic body official held for taking Rs 20 k bribe

Solapur Municipal Corporation's Assistant Commissioner was arrested by ACB in Solapur today for allegedly accepting Rs 20,000 in bribe from a junior engineer who is a temporary appointee at the civic body, police said.

Pradip Sathe (55) had withheld the complainant's monthly emoluments for last eight months and demanding Rs 20,000 from him for extending his tenure at the civic body, an ACB official said.

On the complaint of the engineer, a trap was laid by the agency at the municipal election office in Solapur and arrested Sathe when he was accepting the bribe.
