Top US Diplomat Nisha Biswal meets Nepal Army chief

Nisha Desai Biswal, the Obama administration's point person for South and Central Asia, today met Nepalese Army Chief Gen Gaurav Shumsher Rana here and discussed bilateral ties and mutual cooperation.

Biswal, Assistant Secretary of State for South and Central Asia, had arrived in Kathmandu on Tuesday to attend the 18th SAARC Summit as an observer.

During the meeting with Gen Rana at the Army Headquarters here, Biswal discussed issues of mutual cooperation between Nepal and the US, officials said.

US Ambassador to Nepal Peter W Bodde also attended the meeting.

Earlier on Tuesday, she met Prime Minister Sushil Koirala at the Prime Minister's Office.
