Torn pages of a religious book were found scattered at the Sirhind railway station near here in Punjab, police said today.

An FIR has been filed and investigation launched into the matter, police said.

The torn pages of the holy book, in Bengali language, were found by one Mohammad Raqib, a labourer from Uttar Pradesh, yesterday, police said.

Raqib approached Shiromani Akali Dal (Amritsar) leader Simranjeet Singh Mann, who wrote to Fatehgarh Sahib DC Kanwaldeep Singh Sangha, for an investigation.

Senior Superintendent of Police Jatinder Singh Khaira was asked to probe the matter. However, he forwarded it to the railway police as the pages were found at the railway station.
