Uruguayan authorities say at least two people have been killed when a tornado swept through a small city.
The presidency said that yesterday's tornado also caused substantial damage and several residents of the city of Dolores lost their homes. Dolores has a population of 20,000 people and is located about 265 kilometres west of Montevideo.
Officials say that at least two children were injured by the tornado and were rushed to a hospital in the Uruguayan capital.
