With just a fortnight to go for the Assembly polls in the state, the total cash seizure by the authorities so far has crossed Rs nine crore, Karnataka Chief Electoral Officer Anil Kumar Jha said.
The unaccounted cash includes Rs 12 lakh at Sankeshwar checkpost, Belgaum, Rs 7.5 lakh in Raichur rural district, Rs 9.9 lakh in Bijapur district, Rs 15.5 lakh at Attibele Toll gate in Anekal taluk and Rs 6 lakh in Chintamani in Chikkaballapura, suspected to have been meant for use during the elections to lure voters.
Apart from this, Rs 35 lakh cash was seized in Doddaballapura, Rs 16 lakh in Hubli and Rs 15 lakh in Chamarajanagar yesterday, Jha said.

Continuing their crackdown on the illegal transport of liquor, 75 boxes were confiscated by authorities from Shikaripura taluk of Shimoga District. Boxes of 200 litres was seized from Belgaum, 40 cases from Devadurga taluk, Raichur district and 27 boxes from Channagiri taluk in Davanagere district.
Illegal liquor worth Rs 63 lakh was seized in Santhebennur in Channagiri taluk and 75 cases in Bellary besides which 10 kgs of silver was confiscated by authorities in Belgaum yesterday, Jha said.
