With election to 81 civic bodies, including Kolkata Municipal Corporation, due next year and BJP making inroads in the state, a top Trinamool Congress leader today said there would be tough fight in the coming days and asked partymen to remain united.
"Though there was no such issue that Mamata Banerjee was a prime ministerial candidate or Trinamool Congress will come to power, the people of the state gave us 34 seats as they felt that it is only she who will be able to realise the demands for the state's development," Kolkata Mayor Sovan Chatterjee said during an interaction with party workers.
"A phobia is being created by a section of media about a particular party which has led to a situation of tough fight in some areas," he said.
