The Czech Republic will send its tour operators and media persons on a familiarisation trip to Jammu and Kashmir for encouraging its citizens to visit the state, Czech Ambassador Miloslav Stasak, said here today.

During an hour-long meeting with Tourism Minister Ghulam Ahmad Mir here, Stasak offered his country's support for promotion and showcasing of the state's tourism potential, an official spokesman said.

Earlier, the Ambassador called on Chief Minister Omar Abdullah here and discussed matters of mutual interest.

Stasak expressed keen interest in the initiatives taken by the Chief Minister for public empowerment, a spokesman said.

He also appreciated the state government's efforts for promoting its tourism by creating world class tourist infrastructure, besides offering adventure and golf tourism for high end tourists during his meeting with Mir, the spokesman said.

Hailing the government's efforts to restore peace and normalcy in the state, the Ambassador added that Jammu and Kashmir is as safe as other parts of the world and tourists should not have reservations about visiting the state.

Minister of state for Tourism and Home, Sajad Ahmad Kichloo and Commissioner Secretary, Tourism and Culture, Atul Duloo, were also present in the meeting.

"The state has three regions with tourism potential. Kashmir is called paradise on earth, Jammu city is known for its temples and Ladhak is the moon land on earth," Mir said.
