Tourism Enforcement Wing conducts surprise checking in J&K

Following complaints of overcharging, a team of Jammu and Kashmir Tourism Enforcement Wing today conducted surprise checks of various tourist-related business units in Tangmarg, Magam and Kunzar on Srinagar-Gulmarg road.

The team was led by Station House Officer of police station TRC Inspector Suhail Rasool and charged fines worth Rs 49,500 from violators under Tourist Trade Act, a police spokesman said.

The team swung into action after receiving complaints regarding overcharging by some people linked with tourism business, he said.

The violators include hoteliers, 'dhabawallas', tea stalls vendors, dry fruit and handicraft vendors, the spokesman said adding, the drive would continue.
