Tourism is vital for economic boost of J&K State: Minister

"Tourism is vital for economic boost of Jammu and Kashmir state. There is a need to create modern tourist facilities. The authorities of tourism department should ensure time bound completion of ongoing tourism infrastructure for convenience of visiting tourists," Mir said.

Mir, who took over as the new Tourism Minister after the January 15 cabinet reshuffle, today met tourism department officials, legislators and representatives of tour and travel operators to apprise them about the need for tourism promotion in the state.

Asserting that government would take all possible steps to give a new look to tourism in the state, the minister said the government has already started taking initiatives such as creating new attractions, upgradation of infrastructure and development of new tourist spots.

 

However, he added: "Yet, there is a need to give more attention towards this sector to improve the economy."

The Tourism Minister also asked officials to ensure timely completion of conservation and restoration work of Mubarak Mandi heritage palace.
