The tourist season of the world-famous Dudhwa National Park has come to an end.

A brief concluding ceremony was held at Dudhwa yesterday to mark the closure of this year's tourist season.

"What made the closing day a memorable event was that a large group of wild elephants was sighted by a group of tourists," Deputy Director, Dudhwa Tiger Reserve (DTR), VK Singh told PTI.

Tourist season in Dudhwa starts from November 15 every year and concludes on June 15 before the monsoon.

Renovated Dudhwa huts, nature-interpretation centre and frequent sighting of tigers remained the source of delight and enthusiasm among the tourists this year, Singh said.

"This season, a total of 19,890 tourists including 102 tourists from Sweden, Canada, England and Switzerland, visited DTR which is 21 per cent more than last season," he said.

Elaborating on the next season's plan, Singh said to boost tourism in Dudhwa, the process of booking would be made online from November 15 with further up-gradation of tourist amenities.

Singh said some innovative steps like traffic regulation measures in Dudhwa evoked a good response, resulting in frequent sighting of tigers in the reserve.
