From this year onwards tourists will not be able to enjoy the view of an overflowing Narmada river at Sardar Sarovar dam site as the Gujarat government has closed all the 30 gates of the dam.
The Gujarat government closed all the 30 gates of the dam, raising the water level of the reservoir to 138.68 metres from 121.92 meters on June 18.
It was done after the permission from the Narmada Control Authority (NCA) in this regard, said an official of the Sardar Sarovar Narmada Nigam Limited (SSNL).
