"Urban facilities at par with those available in major towns are being developed in smaller towns and with this the incidence of migration from small towns to urban centres would reduce to a large extent," Chand said here.

The deputy chief minister today gave Rs 87.64 lakh to BPL beneficiaries of municipal committee Khour under Integrated Housing and Slum Development Programme for construction of houses.

Each beneficiary from 13 wards was given a cheque of Rs 28,000 as first installment.

Chand called upon the youths to avail maximum benefit of various self employment schemes, and asked them to look beyond the realm of government jobs and develop skills to become future entrepreneurs.

Flagship programme of Sher-e-Kashmir Employment and Welfare Programme for the Youth is a landmark initiative by the government to address the burgeoning problem of unemployment in the state, he added.
