Toy gun dealers arrested in Pakistan's restive Peshawar

Three persons have been arrested for selling toy weapons in Pakistan's Peshawar, a business banned in the restive city for a month to create awareness among children against extremism.

The district administration sealed 12 godowns in Karkhano market here. The administration had already imposed a ban on the sale and purchase of toy weapons for one month, Dawn reported.

Assistant Commissioner Mohammad Mughais Sanaullah conducted raids at different places and arrested three persons involved in the toy weapons business, the report said.

The aim of the ban is to create awareness among children against extremism.

The authorities have asked the public to extend cooperation in maintaining law and order.
 

Peshawar has witnessed several terror attacks in recent times.

A terror attack on an army-run school in Peshawar in December, 2014 killed more than 150 people, most of them children. Following the deadly attack, Pakistan adopted the National Action Plan to launch a crackdown on terrorists.
