Stalemate between the
management and the union of Toyota Kirloskar Motor over the lockout at two plants at Bidadi near here continued today as well, as the company insisted on the employees to sign the undertaking before entering the premises.
"Today again we had gone to the plant to resume our work, but we were not allowed inside as they are still insisting on us to sign the understanding. We are firm on our stand not to sign any understanding, so we have remained out today as well," Toyota Kirloskar Workers Union President Prasanna Kumar told PTI.
He said no negotiations or talks had started either with the management or with the concerned departments until now.
The deadlock took a new twist yesterday after a lockout at two plants was lifted, with employees not resuming work as they objected to signing a good conduct undertaking as demanded by the company.
Announcing its decision to lift the lockout declared on March 16, Toyota Kirloskar Motor on Thursday had said the workers were welcome to resume work with effect from March 24 after signing a simple undertaking on good conduct.
Meanwhile, denying reports regarding recruitment of contract workers and apprentices, the company today said: "It's absolutely untrue that Toyota is running its plants using 1,000 contract workers and 2,000 apprentices."
"We have started limited plant operations with the help of non-unionised team members, of whom majority are supervisors and engineers," it added.
