Toyota Kirloskar Motor today said it expects sales volume growth to remain "more or less" same during the ongoing calendar year.

According to T S Jaishankar, Deputy Managing Director, Toyota Kirloskar Motor, the parent company Toyota is setting up a greenfield diesel engine manufacturing plant in Bengaluru with an investment outlay of Rs 700 crore to Rs 800 crore.

"We sold 1.6 lakh units last year. TKM volumes will be more or less same this year. I think usually the growth comes with new vehicle launches," he told reporters indicating that there will not be any big bang launches this year.

"We are not running behind numbers," he emphasised.

TKM yesterday reported a 1.29 per cent rise in total car sales at 12,547 units in August. It had sold 12,386 units during the same month last year, it said in a statement.

Jaishankar said Toyota is setting up an engine manufacturing plant in Bengaluru to increase the localisation of its vehicles.

"For any engine manufacturing plant investment would be in the range of Rs 700 to Rs 800 crore. It will be a diesel engine plant. But when it will come we will not be able to tell," he said, adding that the localisation currently stood at 45 per cent.

Meanwhile, TKM today announced the launch of its third "Toyota Driving School" here.
