Tata Power Delhi Distribution Limited (TPDDL) today said it has prepared an action plan to to meet the increasing demand of power during the summer by keeping a contingency backup of 200-300 MW of electricity.

CEO and Managing Director of TPDDL, Praveer Sinha, said they have made arrangements for sufficient power for the summer months to ensure that there is not shortfall in meeting the power demand.

TPDDL is a joint venture between Tata Power and Delhi government and has around 15.06 lakh consumers in North and North-West Delhi.

"We are expecting the peak power demand to reach 1850 MW in our areas. In view of the expected increasing demand, we have kept contingency backup of 200-300 MW of electricity for summer," Sinha told reporters here.

He said that during winter, TPDDL had exported 400 to 500 MW of power to other states which would return it to the discom during this year's summer months.

"In winter, we had exported power (400 to 500 MW) to other states with a return policy in summer months. They will now return around 400-500 MW of electricity to us for summer months, so there will be no shortage of electricity," he said.

Last year, AAP government had directed all three power distribution companies to make an elaborate arrangements for the summer so that people don't have to face the problem of power shortage.
