Armed criminals looted Rs 1.42

lakh in cash from two cattle traders and shot dead one of them when he resisted them in Jamui district of Bihar today, the police said.

The incident happened near Dadhara village on Chakai - Basputi road and the trader has been identified as one Mohammad Jamshed of Giridih district of neighbouring Jharkhand.

Chakai Station House Officer (SHO) Upendra Kumar said Jamshed and another trader Mohammad Nasim had come to Chakai for business related work and were going to Basputi village on an auto-rickshaw when the criminals attacked them.

"There were two more persons in the auto-rickshaw apart from the driver. When the vehicle was about to reach the village, the duo whipped out pistols and snatched the bag in which money was kept. They shot Jamshed when he resisted," Kumar said.

The SHO added that it seemed that the auto-rickshaw driver was in cahoots with the criminals because they threw the two traders out of the vehicle. Jamshed died soon afterwards while the criminals escaped in the vehicle.

Kumar said the body has been sent for postmortem. An FIR has been lodged and raids are being conducted to nab the persons involved in the crime.
