Trader shot at, Rs one lakh looted

A trader was allegedly shot at by two bike-borne assailants who also looted Rs one lakh from him near Kalwa village in the district here, police said today.

The victim identified as Mehtab of Shamli district in Uttar Pradesh, had come to Jind for some work. As he was walking on the road yesterday, the unidentified bike-borne youths shot and seriously injured him, they said.

Victim was rushed to the hospital from where he was referred to Rohtak. He claimed that around Rs one lakh was looted from him, police said, adding a case has been registered in this connection.
 

In a separate incident yesterday, near Nidani village in this district, three armed youths allegedly looted Rs 40,000 from Mohsin, also from Shamli district of UP, they said.

The unidentified youths, fled after committing the crime, police said, adding a cases has been registered in connection.
