Trader shot dead in Chhattarpur

A 23-year-old trader was today shot dead allegedly by unidentified men in Bada Malhera area near Garkhuva village here, police said.

The incident took place when Ramkishan Soni was on his way to the village to sell jewellery items, following which he was attacked by unidentified assailants, they said.

The critically injured trader, who was rushed to Bada Malhara civil hospital from here, succumbed to bullet injuries due to excessive bleeding, police said.

Meanwhile, irate local traders blocked the NH-86 road for nearly an hour, demanding immediate arrest of the assailants, they said.

The road blockade came to an end on the assurance of Sub- Divisional Officer of Police Manoj Singh that the absconding accused would be arrested within 24-hours, they added.
