Trader shot dead in UP

A 40-year-old trader was

allegedly shot dead by six unidentified bike-borne men when he opposed their bid to loot cash from him at Khuda village in the district, police said today.

The incident took place last night when Irfan Qureshi was on his way to Khuda village along with his 6-year-old son following which the robbers intercepted them and looted Rs 2 lakh, they said.

A case has been registered in this regard and a search has been initiated for the unidentified men, police said.

Meanwhile, irate locals protested over the incident by blocking the Delhi-Dehradun National Highway.

Security has been tightened in the area and extra police deployed.
