Local traders hurling bricks today clashed with police in a protest against removal of idols from a Navaratri puja site here.

The traders pulled their shutters down in protest and indulged in brick batting on the police which tried to disperse the mob leading to injuries to one person, they said.

The idols were installed near the Old Kotwali for the 'Navaratri' on a government land but no prior permission of the administration was taken for any kind of construction, they said.

As it was not done, the administration today removed the idols leading to protest and brick batting, they said.

Help of senior citizens here was taken to pacify the locals and the situation is now under control, they added.
