Traders protest against assault on Kanchal

Several city traders today staged a protest against the assault on former Rajya Sabha MP of Samajwadi Party Banwari Lal Kanchal, who is also a traders leader, allegedly by some lawyers in Lucknow recently.

The traders under the banner of 'Uttar Pradesh Udyog Vyapar Prathinidhi Mandal' blocked the East Street outside the District Court here and raised slogans and burnt effigies of lawyers.

Kanchal was allegedly beaten up by a group of lawyers who in the premises of a local court in Lucknow on November 5.

The president of the body Shailendra Gaud said the attack by lawyers was unacceptable.
 

District president of the forum Nikhil Jain questioned safety in courts over the incident and demanded stringent action against the accused.

The forum has threatened to block roads across the state if the police fail to apprehend the accused by Tuesday and also to get themselves arrested.
