Several shopkeepers and traders affiliated to Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT) today closed their shops and held a protest against online system of shopping at GT Road here.

The traders also gave a memorandum to District Magistrate addressed to Union Minister of State for Commerce Nirmala Sitharaman demanding creation of a Regulatory Authority to monitor the online shopping companies.

Spokesperson and city president of (CAIT), Tilak Raj Arora, said that several online marketing companies are luring customers by announcing very low prices for various electronics and consumer goods.

Affected shopkeepers downed their shutter in support of protest, Arora said.
